Linger in God's Presence

Tips to help you linger in God's presence after prayer:

  1. Immerse yourself into worship music

There’s something really sweet about worship music — it puts into words what you can’t quite articulate to God. It helps communicate what may be deeply hidden and give you what your heart needs to hear. I pray you will put on worship music today, right now, to let it minister to you.

2. Journal

Create a dedicated prayer journal to deepen your connection with God. In this journal, pour out your prayers, needs, desires, and struggles. It's a personal space to express yourself honestly and intimately with God.

Even a simple entry, "Lord, I need Your presence today," becomes a heartfelt prayer to which He responds. Let your prayer journal be a treasured tool for strengthening your relationship with God.

3. Lament

Lament aka cry out to Him, and/or scream if needed. Did you know when we can’t articulate our prayers to God, the Holy Spirit will communicate them to Him for us? That can be found in Romans 8:26. “And the Holy Spirit will help us in our weakness. The Holy Spirit will pray for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words”.

Lamenting is simply expressing honest emotions when life is not going as planned. Whether we’re hurt, frustrated, confused, betrayed, overwhelmed, sad, or just disappointed, lament is the language God has given us to talk to Him right in the middle of life’s messes.

It’s simply REAL, unfiltered talk with God when you’re hurting and when all you can do is cry out to Him for help. It’s a prayer that says, “God, I’m hurting – will You meet me here?” And as such, it is a prayer to which God always also responds.

4. Soak

Have you ever just sat in silence and submitted every negative thought about yourself, others, things you are confused about, need answers for to God, etc. as it came up in real-time? Try this. God is always near waiting patiently for us to give to Him what was never meant for us to carry.

Creating an intentional prayer space allows real-time communion with God as worries arise. In the quiet, we can relinquish the burdens we were not meant to carry. Let us design a beautiful spot, crafted just for you, to meet with Him and be reminded of His nearness.
